God, when I was a teenager, I thought that it is all made of chemicals and terribly harmful. I will tell you one thing: until you try something in your life, do not draw conclusions and think with stereotypes.
Sports nutrition consists of substances that we all use with food – proteins, all kinds of amino acids, vitamins and so on. The use of sports nutrition is absolutely safe, except for your susceptibility to individual components. This is like intolerance with lactose, or gluten, etc. I tried many different additives from different producers and each time I was convinced that they really work and are harmless. All you need is to take dietary supplements in the right doses, like any vitamins or medicine.
All sports nutrition supplements and other substances, it’s just additives. All of them are needed in case the food you consume does not contain enough nutrients. In case you can not eat enough food to lead an active lifestyle, you will be helped by those supplements. Some of them will give you energy, some will help restore, the rest will recharge for the next training.
The most important thing is to understand that none of the substances will do for you any work or training, build up your muscles, or make your muscles stronger and enduring. All of these is a result of hard work during training. That’s what will make you strong and healthy. Sports nutrition simply provides you with missing elements or makes up their excessive loss. You must work hard, by you yourself.
