BERISLAV SKENDEROVIĆ, conductor, studied Piano and Conducting first at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and then at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. He began his career as a choir conductor and assistant conductor at the Serbian National Theater (1974). At the same time, he became a visiting conductor of the Subotica Philharmonic Orchestra. Maestro Skenderović received his first international engagement as Conductor at the Munich Opera (1979). In 1981, he was appointed as Conductor of the Croatian National Theater Opera in Split, before taking over as Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Radio-Television Sarajevo in 1985. He has conducted orchestras such as the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmonica de la Unam Mexico, and Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma. Maestro Skenderović made his debut at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at numerous festivals in the former Yugoslavia and in the countries of Europe, South America, and North America, as well as in China and Japan. Berislav Skenderović has served as Artistic Director of the Serbian National Theater Opera and was the founder and for many years Musical Director of the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra in Novi Sad.
